This morning Mommy walked into the NICU and before she walked back Dr. Mike let me know that your jaundice level rebounded a bit back to 10.5 from 7.5 the previous day. Of course Dr. Mike said this is totally normal but Mommy couldn't help but feel very sad. Before we started changing your diaper at 9 a.m. Mommy's friend Sarah Edwards stopped by the NICU on her way home from work. Mommy went out to the waiting room to talk with her for a few minutes and started crying (I was having an emotional morning, but you are still doing great!)

Around Noon you breastfed for about 10 minutes or so which is great. We are doing this a little bit at a time to get you used to breast feeding. Before you are able to go home you must be able to feed fully from either the breast or a bottle. So far you are headed in the right direction!
Mommy was so happy this afternoon because Loreen, the nice nurse, let Mommy hold you for an hour and a half! Normally it's only for 30-45 minutes so today Mommy was in heaven! While we were snuggling Grandma Jibby came to hang out with us for awhile. I know you were really excited to see her!!!
For the rest of the afternoon each time we changed you had a poopy diaper. We LOVE poopy diapers! Thank goodness for poopy! Poopy also helps to get your bilirubin level down so hopefully it will help to get your off the light.
At 3p, we weighed you and you GAINED weight! Yesterday you weighed 1620 grams which is about 3 lbs. 9.14 ounces and today you weighed 1641 grams, which is about 3 lbs. 9.9 ounces (although the nurse said it was 3 lbs. 10 ounces, so maybe we should go with her conversion!) We are so proud of you for gaining weight. We're really looking forward to you getting back up to your birth weight of 3 lbs. 11. 2 ounces!
After we weighed you, Mommy read you a couple books. You were so cute. While I was reading you looked at me the entire time. I know you were listening to me read you the books! One was about a dog named Petey, and then we read Old McDonald Had a Farm and Little Red Riding Hood. The nurses said you were so alert and they know you are going to be super smart! Of course Daddy and I agree!
Daddy came to the hospital after work for your 6p care time. He changed your diaper again and did a great job! Daddy read you a story and then we let you rest while we went to get dinner and check into our hotel room. It is supposed to snow tonight up to 12 inches, so Mommy and Daddy rented a room in a house on the hospital's campus so we are able to walk to see you in the morning and be with you in the snowstorm. Here is a picture of our cute little room:

At 9p tonight we came back to see you. We held you for a long time tonight. Mommy held you first and you breastfed for about 15 minutes. Then you snuggled on my chest for 45 minutes or so while Daddy read you stories. You fell fast asleep and looked so cute in your adorable little hat. Daddy took this picture of your in your hat, your glasses for your light, and your cute little blanket. We think you look like a little Olympic snowboarder.
