Country Road: colton: 14 months old & a big brother!

Dear Colton,

Well...you turned one year old and then one week later you became a big brother for the very first time! We weren't sure how you would react to meeting your little sister, but you have been so welcoming and you love her so much. You love to crawl over to her when she's in her swing and just look at her. It makes Mommy and Daddy so happy to see this.

While you love to look at her and be close to her, you also love to steal her pacifiers! When you were a newborn you didn't really like pacifiers too much, but now you love them just to hold and play with. It's so funny to watch.

You are soon close to walking...but we are letting you go at your own speed. You are pulling yourself up and cruising all over your new house but aren't quite ready to take those first steps.

But you did experience a new 'first' this month: the flu! Hayden was two weeks old and you came down with the stomach bug and had your first battle with throwing up and diarrhea. You slept on Mommy's chest in our bed all night. You handled it like a champ.

Overall, you are being such a big boy and acclimating to sharing Mommy and Daddy with your new little sister so well! Mommy, not so much. For a little over a week after Hayden was born, Mommy cried as I rocked you to sleep. I am so happy that our family is complete with your little sister, but Mommy will always treasure all the memories we made together every day of your first year of life!

Your personality is so perfect and you continue to light up everyone's day with your infectious smile. Mommy and Daddy had such a memorable and fun first year with you and we can't wait to make so many more memories this year as you continue to grow.
