Weight: 12 pounds 14.5 ounces
Colton,
You're 4 months old and couldn't be happier! Each day you're growing bigger and stronger and are developing your own little personality. When you want something, you let Mommy and Daddy know immediately with a very loud cry. But, we can't complain because most of the time when you cry it's for a reason and is easily fixable with some food, a diaper change, or a long nap.
Your smile grows bigger each day and you've started to recognize Mommy and Daddy's face when we play with you. We can tell because you get a big smile on your face when you see us, followed by a lot of crazy arm and leg movements.
You're a great sleeper and have decreased the number of times you get up at night from three to two nights so that has helped Mommy and Daddy get some more rest. Overall, you're doing great. We are having a tough time trying to figure out why you wake up every morning screaming around 5 a.m. Mommy here's you tooting so we think it must be painful gas partnered with some reflux.
The pediatrician says you should grow out of your reflux but it might be a few more months until your digestive system matures enough to see a change. Mommy is still feeling like there might be something else going on like a milk intolerance so we're going to attempt at changing formulas over the next couple of weeks to see if we can make you more comfortable.
You received your next round of shots at this month's doctors appointment. You cried but for a short period of time. I think it hurt Mommy more than it hurt you. Those needles certainly are big. You are weighing in at a whopping 12 pounds 14 ounces and are at a great spot on the growth chart for a 4 month old at 12%. Because you were born two months early, it's great that you're even on the growth charts already! That makes us so very happy!
We've transitioned you to your crib where you are sleeping great. While you've made the transition to the crib smoothly, Mommy and Daddy are having a tough time leaving you in your room by yourself. We moved a little mattress on the floor next to your crib and sleep there at night just to make sure you're OK. Maybe in a few weeks we'll let you sleep in your room by yourself!
This month we also went to see the specialist at University of Maryland who will monitor your development until you are two years old. You had a great appointment and were able to do everything a 3 1/2 month old does except for a pushup on your arms to lift your chest. They didn't seem concerned at all and said you are doing great and wanted to see you in 6 months. Great job buddy!!
We are having so much fun playing with you and watching you grow. You're such a tough little guy and are going great!
We love you!
