Oy vey. Where do I start? Potty training is no joke. It's hard. It's frustrating. At times it feels like it beats you into the ground until you don't have anything left to give. And the best part, it's done. Over. No more.
It's completely true... every child is different. And every child will be ready when they're ready. Not when Mommy and Daddy are ready, but when they are ready. For us, it took me about an entire year to figure out when Colton was ready.
One thing that I know did help, was the video "Potty Power." Uncle Tim and Aunt Kelly gave us their copy of it on our way home from visiting them in MA in September and after watching it several times, both kiddos were excited to go on the potty. This video I believe was what helped Colton best understand how to go, when to go, and everything in between. Big thanks to Uncle Tim and Aunt Kelly for this awesome (and sanity saving) resource!
For Colton, he started going pee-pee and poopy in the potty starting in October, which was about four months prior to turning four years old. About a month before he turned 4, he is fully potty trained and no longer needs to wear diapers when he sleeps.
For Hayden Rae, she started potty training about three weeks before her 3rd birthday. Around the time Colton started going in the potty she did as well for about two weeks, and then regressed back to diapers. Then, at Christmas, Santa gave her a potty and that peeked her interest just enough that when she realized she coudln't take karate class with Colton until she could wear big girl underpants, she accepted the challenge and in about three days time she was going on the potty without Mommy's help.
Big cheers, huge cheers, to NO MORE DIAPERS!!!
